Pizza and ranch! One of the most weird, but epic combos?!
It wasn’t until college that I discovered pizza and ranch. Apparently it’s a huge thing. I went to a big party school (what up JMU!!), and with that partying came lots of late night eating. A freshman staple after coming home from a night of drinking was Chanello’s Pizza.
I’m sure if I ate it now it wouldn’t be that great, but when you were drunk, it was glorious. And it always came with ranch that you could dip the pizza in. That’s when I discovered the pizza and ranch combo.

I have never been a huge fan of ranch – I was more of a honey mustard kind of girl. But Sir Kensington’s has an epic line of ranch dressings. They have a bunch of fun flavors, like classic with avocado oil, buffalo, and pizza ranch.
When Michael and I first tried the pizza ranch, we both agreed it tastes exactly like when you dip pizza into ranch. And the best part is it’s made from real food ingredients, doesn’t have any added sugars, and is paleo and Whole30 approved.
So I figured lets put it to good use and make some chicken bacon ranch pizzas using sweet potatoes for a fun and healthy spin on pizza!

Whole30 pizza with chicken bacon and ranch
This Whole30 pizza recipe couldn’t be any easier! Only 5 ingredients for an easy appetizer, party food, or Friday night dinner everyone will love!
Here is what you need:
- sweet potatoes
- shredded chicken
- bacon – I love ButcherBox and it’s Whole30 compliant
- Sir Kensington’s pizza ranch
- green onions
- avocado oil
- salt and pepper
First start off by slicing your sweet potatoes into 1/2 inch thick rounds. The key is to finding the perfect sized sweet potatoes. You want them to be long and somewhat skinny, about 2 inches or so in diameter. That way when you slice them, you have enough room for the toppings, but this are still in bite size pieces.
Then add you sliced sweet potatoes to a large bowl and toss with avocado oil and salt and pepper to fully coat. Place a parchment paper lined baking sheets and roast for 30-35 minutes, flipping after 20 minutes.
While the sweet potatoes cook, make the bacon. I pan fried it, but you could also roast it in the oven. Let cool for a few minutes once it’s done.
Once the bacon is done, crumble it and add it to a medium sized bowl with the shredded chicken, some green onions, Sir Kensingston’s Pizza Ranch, and salt and pepper.

When the sweet potatoes are cooked and golden brown, add the chicken bacon ranch mixture on top and pop it back in the oven for 5 minutes to heat through. Finally top with a little more ranch and green onions and enjoy!
It’s that easy and they are so good! I made them and there was a bunch of leftovers in the fridge. Michael texted me that he couldn’t stop eating them and probably ate like 15 of them haha! The guy loves pizza.
Meal prep Whole30 pizza
While this chicken bacon ranch sweet potato pizza is already pretty easy, here are a few tips to make assembly even easier or if you want to meal prep:
- keep shredded chicken on hand – it’s a staple at our house and I usually make my crockpot/instant pot chicken once a week for quick and easy meals during the week.
- cook bacon in advance
- cook sweet potato rounds in advance
You can prep and store the chicken, bacon and sweet potato rounds separately in the fridge and assemble and bake when ready to enjoy. You will probably need to heat them up for 10-15 minutes to allow everything to warm through.
Or you can make the recipe as written and store the individual pizzas in a tightly sealed glass container. Heat them up in the microwave or oven or eat them cold (cold pizza anyone?!) when ready to eat! They should store in the fridge for up to a week (if you can keep them that long!)

Substitutions for pizza ranch
This Whole30 pizza recipe does call for a specific ingredient, and luckily you can find it easily on Amazon, but I know not everyone will have it. You can totally make pizza ranch yourself though! Simply mix together ranch dressing with some pizza sauce until the desired taste and consistency.
I would suggest a 3:1 or 2:1 ratio of ranch to pizza sauce depending on how much ranch flavor you like. You want about 5 tablespoons total of the sauce, but if you have more it definitely won’t hurt!

Wow! These little “pizza” bites were so good! I’m on Day 21 of Whole 30 and looking for some great recipes that don’t require a ton of prep (ohhhh the whole 30 dishes!) I ran out of SK pizza ranch so I subbed with a different brand but the recipe was perfect and will definitely be added to my regular rotation! Thank you, Kelly!

I love simple and I love tasty! These were perfect for a fun meal for myself. I am definitely getting my hands on some of the pizza ranch in the recipe to try again. I subbed ranch and pizza sauce mixed together and it was great but am so intrigued by the actual pizza ranch 🙂 I have leftover chicken mix and potatoes for seconds or might use with lettuce.

Hi! I am excited to try this recipe. Quick question can I subsitute dump ranch for the ranch listed? I’m not sure where to find the ranch the receipe calls for.
Kelly says
Yes, any ranch will work! You could mix it with a little bit of pizza sauce too if you want that pizza flavor. I got the ranch at Whole Food, but you can also get it on amazon – https://amzn.to/2T0ApHJ – let me know if you try to make them!

the recipe looks delish. I want to be able to count the calories and am not sure how many calories in each sweet potato round pizza. Nutrition facts say 435. Is that divided by 4 for 4 servings? Or is it a high calorie snack?
Kelly says
Hi Lynne! The nutrition info is for 1/4 of the whole recipe. So if you make it according to the measurements in the ingredient list, 1/4 of the total number of sweet potatoes rounds will be the nutritional info listed. If you want to make it a snack, you can divide it by 8 or so. Hope that helps!
