Thanks for stopping by! I’m Kelly, just a girl in her twenties who is a food and fitness fanatic. I live in Austin, Texas where I write this blog, am a nutrition coach, run a healthy meal delivery service, and coach CrossFit classes. I started Eat the Gains after I moved to Austin to document some of the healthy recipes I create and fun (but brutal!) workouts I put myself though.
I also love connecting with people that have the same passions as me. AKA eating lots of delicious food and working out to stay healthy and fit. This is my journey to help find a happy place of eating and fitness.
A little background info…
My diet and eating habits have changed pretty drastically over the past decade of my life. From the typical teenager diet (plus veggies cause my parents were great about that), to pescetarianism and over exercising/under-eating in college, to paleo post-college while finding CrossFit, and to now – you can say I have definitely tried quite a few of them. Each of those phases have helped form the way I eat now.
Currently I try to eat according to how I train and how my body feels on any given day. I do not specifically remove certain groups of food, but through a lot of trial and error I know what works best for my body. I am still continuing to learn and experiment daily with different foods. I try to eat whole foods that fuel my body not only for my workouts but for living life to the fullest.
Foods for thought…
I am an advocate of what you eat directly effects how you feel and each person has to find what works for them. That being said, I believe life is all about moderation. I love vegetables and working out, but also love sweet potato fries, a spicy margarita, chips and dip, and a lazy Sunday. It’s about balance!
This little corner of the internet is devoted to providing some delicious and wholesome eats while also giving some inspiration and ideas for daily workouts and recipes. When I’m not daydreaming about food, you can find me at CrossFit, outside running, eating carrots and sweet potatoes, wandering Whole Foods, and dreaming about the next adventure I can go on. Some random facts about me
- My favorite color is orange.
- I have never met a vegetable I didn’t like. Send some different ones my way!
- The ocean/open water freaks me out. I grew up going to the beach every weekend but I can’t get past the fact that I can’t see what is around me. And sharks.
- I think I look nothing like my younger sister, but we have been asked if we are twins. We are 5 years apart.
