It is hard to meet a person that doesn’t like avocados. Seems like everywhere you look, there they are. Whether it be on toast, in tacos or on burgers, and even in smoothies.
True story – Michael actually didn’t like avocados when we first started dating (among many other things). I don’t think he was exposed to them too much growing up so it’s not really his fault. He is really a texture type of person when it comes to food and eating. I personally don’t understand these texture disliking people. It is really hard for me to find a food I don’t like and texture has never really bothered me. Fortunately he has come a long way since we started dating 6 years ago. His whole palate has completely expanded.
You can pretty much find guacamole at almost every restaurant now. While I do love it the classic way (or any way really), I wanted to take it up a notch. I would barely call this a recipe, but it’s definitely a fun and new way to spice up your average guacamole. I’ve tried this recipe on multiple people and everyone has loved it!
Spicy Pineapple Jicama Guacamole
This recipe is quite simple. Mash up some avocado with cilantro and lime, and then add in the rest of your ingredients. Let’s go over the fun stuff I added!
I love a little heat in my recipes, so I added cherry peppers. They give the guac some color too. If you can’t find those, feel free to use jalapeños or any pepper you like. Next is the pineapple. The pineapple and avocado combo is so good and it adds some sweetness to balance the spiciness of the peppers.
Finally is the jicama. If you have never tried jicama, I highly recommend it. It’s a root veggie with a slightly sweet taste. The texture is kind of like an apple – crispy and refreshing. It adds a really nice contrast to the creamy avocado and sweet pineapple. I love crunchy things and I love that it adds a crunch to usually smooth guacamole.
This pineapple jicama guacamole makes servings for probably 6-10 people depending on who is eating it. Make it the day of if you are bringing it to a party. It will brown some as times goes on, but still tastes fine! To store it, keep it in the fridge in a sealed glass container.
I’ve been just dipping veggies into this pineapple jicama guac, but it goes so well with eggs, protein, tacos, burgers, and obviously chips. Use your vehicle of choice!

I’m actually not that big of an avocado fan, but I’ve grown to enjoy some guac or even simply mashed and plain avocado from time to time 😉

I feel like avocado definitely grows on you after a little while. I’m positive you are not the only one that doesn’t love them, it is just hard to find those people…especially in Austin lol!
