Recapping June 2018!

Family outside at Blues on the Green in Austin, TX

How is June already over?! I feel like I don’t even know what happened this past month – with Michael’s friends coming into town, then my family, and then getting sick for a weekend, it’s all a blur. Luckily this is why I do these recaps, so I can look back on all the fun thing! Let’s get into it!

Doing Things

The month started out pretty low key. We went to the outlets in hoping to find some furniture, but had no luck, but we did try out Odd Duck for our anniversary! I’ve been there before, but Michael hasn’t. It was so so good! I think my favorite was the summer nachos with zucchini. I could eat like 5 plates of those.

Michael’s friends came into town the first weekend and we did ALL THE THINGS. Okay, that is a lie – they did all the things, and I did some of the things. I had to work that weekend (I hosted a brunch and did meal prep), but I still did a decent amount of things with them. We saw two shows – one at the Antone’s and one Scoot Inn at which is always fun.

That weekend I also cooked brunch for about 25 people! The group rented a huge AirBnB and were celebrating a birthday. On saturday morning I headed to the house and made brunch for them with the help from my friend Danielle. It was a lot of fun, and a lot of food! Later that weekend I hit up a bridal/wedding showcase with my friend…that was overwhelming to say to least.

My parents came into town in the middle of the next week and more activities happened. We hit up Blues on the Green the first night which was fun to bring them to. Then we went dress shopping at a few places and I found my wedding dress!! Not going to lie, that was stressful. With getting married in November, I was feeling the pressure to find my dress so I could then order it, have it come in, and then get it altered. After going to 2 places and not finding anything I really really loved, I was super stressed. Third time is a charm though and I found the one! And it was from a sample sale so I just took it off the rack and don’t have to order it and then wait for it to come in. Winning!

My friend Blake had a going away workout and party that we went to. So sad to see him leave – he was the owner of my CrossFit, but recently sold it so he can go back to get his doctorate in accounting at University of Kentucky. Best of luck Blake!

We did some more wedding stuff while my parents were here, but I still feel like I have a lot to do. It was also Father’s Day that weekend so we tried out ATX Cocina. The food was pretty good, but a little over priced.

We had to get some work done on our house which is boo. The pipe was leaking in the shower and they didn’t want to cut through the tile so they had to cut through the living room wall. Right dab in the middle of it. Should be an easy fix (hopefully).

Right after my family left, I got sick with a bladder infection. It sucked. I wasn’t in that much pain, but had a bad fever, headache, and my body ached for a few days. I pretty much spent the last weekend of the month just sleeping and watching the World Cup. It wasn’t the worst.

Finished off the month my attending an Instant Pot cooking class by my friend Carly from Frolic and Flow! I’ve used my IP for the basic things, but excited to get into learning how to use it more! Bone broth here I come!

What I am loving

We discovered a new home decor place that I am obsessed with. Actually, one of y’all on Instagram recommended it to me and I can’t thank you enough! It’s called Vintage Fresh and has the cutest stuff. We already picked up a handful of things and I can’t wait to go back!

We finally got a headboard for out bed! And Michael built it!! Not going to lie, I’m usually the one to just buy things instead of build it. When he told me he was going to build a headboard, I was like ugh. But it turned out pretty nice and is growing on me!

We got a new grill!! I tested it out this week and am obsessed! Pretty easy for me to use and I can’t wait to try some more recipes on it! You can tell I wasn’t the only one excited for it haha.

Okay, that’s it for June. Currently in the air heading to San Diego for a wedding and can’t wait to hit the beach, soak up the sun, and relax for the next week!! See you kids in July!
