A recap of my weekly workouts from the previous week.
Happy Monday! Coming at you a little later today than normal, but that’s okay. Today was a busy day! And I didn’t do much work at all this weekend which I haven’t done in a LONG time, so that felt nice.
If you have followed my weekly workout posts for awhile (which I’m pretty sure more people are here for the recipes), as of late they have looked a lot different than normal. Not that I have a normal, but let’s say like last year and the year before. I was hitting 5-6 high intensity workouts a week. This week I worked out 4 times. For not being on vacation or having an event coming up, that is not a lot for me.
I’m at a weird place right now. After working out consistently (5-6 times/week) for probably the last 10 years of my life, and 6 years of them being CrossFit, I feel pretty burnt out. I was feeling way too tired, my hormones are messed up, and I just don’t have the same drive I used to have. I just think my body needs a break from constant high intensity workouts. Which is really hard for me to say since I love these kinds of workouts – lifting more weight than you thought you could, going faster than last week, dripping sweat when you are done. I love all of these things and CrossFit has literally changed my life. But deep down inside, I think physically and mentally I need a little break from them.
So what does this mean? I’ll still be working out, just not as intensity and maybe not so often. I’ve been saying I want to get into yoga and I am definitely going to try to do more of that. I also haven’t run in a long time and am planning on getting back into that. I am just taking it day by day and see how I feel and what my body wants to do that day.
