Recapping August 2016!
Holy crap, how is summer over already? Although, it won’t really feel like fall in Austin for a few more weeks, seems like everyone is in fall mode already. August was jammed freakin’ packed for us. With a friend’s wedding, Michael’s family vacation, my birthday…we were pretty busy. Let’s get right into it!

Doing Things
The first weekend in August we headed to VA for our two friends from college wedding. It was a beautiful wedding at a winery (pic above at the top of the post) and it was so fun to see a lot of our good friends from college. I drank way too much, but I mean it was at a winery, how could you not. We also hung out with Michael’s family some since they aren’t too far from Charlottesville.
The next weekend we headed to Topsail, North Carolina for Michael’s family vacation week. They rent a house every year and about 20-30 of his family come. This year the house had 2 pools and was a block away from the ocean. It was nice to see everyone and relax for a week. I probably only drank 1 day which I was happy about. I also cooked up some of my own food since I don’t really eat a lot of the stuff they make for dinner. Stayed pretty healthy for the most part.
We got home on Thursday and then that Saturday was Crush’s 1 year party! Lots of vendors, giveaways, and people! Crazy to think I have been out of corporate America for a year! Thinking of writing a post about that soon. That night we headed downtown to a friends birthday party.
The next weekend was my bday weekend! Saturday we did a workout I programmed at CFCL. Later that night Michael and I went to Uchiko for my bday dinner. SO FREAKING GOOD. I want to eat there everyday. The flavor combinations were unreal. After dinner we meet up with a few of my friends for a few drinks. The next day we headed to Rainey Street with some friends for a little Sunday funday action. The night ended in pizza and cake. Perfect ending to my bday weekend.
How cute is that cake my friend made me?! S’mores to the max!
What I am loving
Not sure if this counts, but having other people cook bomb home cooked meals. On vacation one of the guys staying at the house made a huge Philippine feast for everyone. Marinated crispy chicken, fried zucchini, fried rice, and roasted Brussels sprouts. It was so good. I could eat that everyday.
Birthday presents! I got some cool dishes from my friend for blogging. I love thoughtful gifts like that. Michael got me a few things and one of them was a planter for a cactus I want to get. It is gonna be sweet. My mom got me the new Inspiralize Everything cookbook, but it was stolen!! The package was literally ripped open on my front porch. Luckily she is getting me another one.
Running more? There is a question mark, because while I am enjoying it, my friend and I are going to start training for a marathon. So that is a lot more running. We will see how it goes!
Looks like summer is officially over, but I think I am maybe a little ready for fall? I could get used to a little cooler weather and some football. And some free weekends! Follow along on Instagram!
