Recapping February 2018!
Holy heck, February went by fast! I feel like the last two weeks were just a blur. My parents were here the second half of the month so we did all the things. My dad is still hanging out while my mom goes to visit her sister in Florida so we still have lots of things to do too. I’m ready for March though and a little warmer weather and some sunshine!

Doing Things
So many things happened this month!! Started off slow, but then my parents came into town and we did so many things. Let’s get to it.
Nothing too much happened during the first couple weeks – we had our friends over to watch the Super Bowl, I made this buffalo chicken chili that is so good, and we celebrated Valentine’s Day 2 days late by Michael cooking me a delicious dinner. He made an eggplant soup, steak, lobster, and brussel sprouts.
We were also able to say goodbye to the old house we were renting. The landlord finally found new tenants and we officially don’t have to pay rent for a house we weren’t living in. Hell yes.
I tried out Forthright with my friend and it was amazing! I got a power bowl with quinoa, crispy kale, and roasted veggies and added salmon and it was amazing. We split an avocado toast and my friend got a veggie burger and fries, which I tried and it was delicious. I can’t wait to go back.
Mid-month my parent came into town and we headed to Fredericksburg for the weekend. We drank lots of wine and ate some good food. It was the perfect weekend away.
The following weekend we are headed to happy hour at Bonhomie (one of my fav spots in town) and headed downtown to see Dan Auerbach in concert thanks to my mom! He’s the lead singer of The Black Keys which I didn’t know. Love that my parents are in the know with music haha! He was awesome and had Robert Finley as a guest performer. He was amazing!!
The rest of the month consisted of looking at pretty much every wedding venue in Austin. Not really, but it felt like it. I think we looked at 14 or so. I believe we have it narrowed down to 3 so here is hoping we can make a decision soon.
What I am loving
My parents being here! I haven’t really got shit done the past two weeks because they were here and we have been trying to do a bunch of wedding stuff (aka find a venue), but it’s been great. I don’t get to see them that often since we live in Austin, so I’ve been trying to soak it all in. Sad thing is, I didn’t get one pic of everyone when they were here. I’m the worst.
Getting all the plants! I’ve been wanting to decorate our house with a bunch of plants, but was waiting for my dad to come visit. He was a florist before he retired and knows all about them so has been helping me get some new ones, plant them, where I should put them, and how to take care of them. I literally have no green thumb.
Roasted fennel! I tried it for the first time last weekend and it was bomb. Definitely need to create a recipe using it soon!
Here’s to the start of spring! Happy March!

Yes it was amazing, definitely going to be a staple in our house! And I need to check out your salad recipe. I seriously couldn’t stop eating it off the pan when it came out of the oven!
