Recapping December 2017!
And just like that, 2017 is over! The saying that time flies when you are older is really becoming a reality for me…and it’s going way too fast!! 2017 was an awesome year for me, both personally and professionally. If you missed it, I did an ETG 2017 year in review last week where I talked about some fun things that happened personally, professionally, and how my business grew. It was definitely cool to write it down and see everything that went down in 2017.
This is going to be more on the personal side and will just be recapping December. Here we go!

Doing Things
I was able to attend one of Chef Vanessa Musi‘s baking classes. She is one of the world’s first healthy bakers and she specializes in baking with healthy alternatives like gluten free flours, natural sweeteners, lower carb desserts, and what not (no white flour or sugar). She taught us some helpful tips and then we made all the things!! One of my favorites were the paleo blondies. I can’t wait to bake some treats for my dad when my parents visit next month!
I got to try out EvolvE Cryo + Wellness and had the pleasure of getting some cupping and acupuncture done. I have done cupping the past, but this was my first time with acupuncture and I really enjoyed it! I have been really stressed lately and I felt so relaxed after. Looking forward to doing it again in the future.
Mid-month we had Michael’s Christmas party! It was fun to meet some of his co-workers and we enjoyed some games since it was at a bar that had an arcade. We also tried out Pieous that weekend and dang it was amazing! It is quite the drive, but totally worth it. Michael got a classic margarita pizza (typical of him) and I got one with brussels and jam on it and we split an app that had some veggies and dips on it. I highly recommend if you are in the Austin area and we can’t wait to go back!
Christmas Eve and Christmas we kept it low key and stayed at the house. I baked cinnamon rolls and we enjoyed some good food while just watching some movies and doing some stuff around the house. Was a little weird not being with our families, but I’m excited to continue the traditions that we started.
We finished off the month by heading to see The Greyhounds perform with Tameca Jones and it was amazing!! We actually didn’t stay for all of Tameca Jones, but the Greyhounds were great (it is the second time we’ve seen them) and the opener (I forget her name) was amazing.
Before we went to the concert we checked out Pitchfork Pretty and it was so so good! I have looked at their menu a few times online and wasn’t too impressed, but the food was outstanding. We split beef tartare to start and then Michael had the gluten free fried chicken and I got grouper with bone marrow. I also had a couple drinks that were fun. Definitely recommend if you are in Austin!
What I am loving
Totally random and it only happened once in December (and all year!), but I got bagels from a local bakery for Michael’s birthday weekend and they were so good! I don’t know the last time I had a bagel and it was amazing. I loaded mine up with a fried egg, veggie cream cheese, veggies, and some hot sauce to make a sandwich. Perfection.
Buying new furniture! As much as it is really hard for Michael and I to make decisions (we are both really indecisive) and it is expensive, it has been really fun finding our style and picking out pieces for our new house. We are still in the process, but it’s slowly coming together.
Lundberg rice cakes. Y’all know my addiction to rice cakes and I recently discovered this brand. I usually don’t buy them, but they were on sale and pretty much the same price as the HEB ones. Well they are awesome and now I am hooked. I recently ate 5 in one day ?
Now who is ready to kick some ass in 2018!!
