True or false – blue cheese is greater than ranch? TRUE! I am a blue cheese lover through and through and this greek yogurt blue cheese dressing is it!
It’s thick and creamy, has a nice tang from the yogurt, and goes with so many things – veggies, salads, grilled meats, and just by the spoonful if you love it as much as me.

I’m a huge fan of homemade dressings and sauces. They are such an easy way to add some spice to meals and by making them at home, you know exactly what goes into them. This homemade blue cheese dressing is not different – it gives you that same taste (honestly better in my opinion) you know and love with great ingredients.

Why we love this greek yogurt blue cheese dressing
- calls for only 5 simple ingredients – no added preservatives or fillers
- super easy to make! – all you need to do is add everything to a bowl or jar and mix it up.
- lightened up – packed in more protein and less fat and calories than your typical store-bought variety.
- versatile – great for salads, as a dip, on sandwiches, with buffalo chicken, or just as a sauce with some protein, veggies, and carbs for dinner.
Healthy blue cheese dressing ingredients
- plain greek yogurt – makes it super creamy and adds protein. I used 0% fat.
- blue cheese crumbles
- lemon juice – adds some acidity and tang
- white vinegar
- garlic – we are using fresh for a little kick
- salt and pepper

How do you make blue cheese yogurt dressing?
- Make the dressing. Add all of your ingredients to a small to medium bowl or jar and stir well to combine. Try it and adjust it according to your taste.
- Enjoy! If serving as a dip, I like to sprinkle a little more blue cheese on top for a pretty presentation.
How to serve
This homemade blue cheese dressing is so versatile! We love keeping a jar in the fridge during the week and adding it to different meals. Here are some ways you can use it:
- salad dressing
- dip – great served with veggies, crackers, or pretzels
- with anything buffalo chicken – perfect for buffalo chicken fries, buffalo wings, buffalo chicken zucchini boats, or buffalo chicken burgers
- sauce for a grain or power bowl
- as a spread on a sandwich
- sauce with an easy dinner – we love serving this with some protein (chicken and steak), some veggies, and carbs to spice up weeknight dinners

Storage
- refrigerator – store in a tightly sealed glass jar (I love to use the ones I mix it in) in the fridge. It will last as long as your yogurt lasts (look at the expiration date on it).
Substitutions
- greek yogurt – greek yogurt is what helps lighten this recipe and gives it more protein than your average blue cheese dressing. With that being said, it also adds more tang. If you don’t want all greek yogurt, you can substitute some mayonnaise or sour cream. This will add a little richness and more fat. If you can’t have dairy, you can try a dairy-free greek yogurt. Any kind of fat percentage will work.
- blue cheese crumbles – if you don’t have blue cheese or want to change it up, you can try gorgonzola.
- white vinegar – any kind of clear/light-colored vinegar will work. Apple cider vinegar, white wine vinegar, red wine vinegar, or malt vinegar. Do not use balsamic vinegar. You can also leave it out if you don’t have it.
- garlic – use you can garlic powder instead of fresh garlic. Use 1/2 teaspoon.
More healthy dressings and sauces
- creamy lemon garlic sauce
- burger sauce
- buffalo sauce
- red enchilada sauce
- tzatziki sauce
- 6 sauces that aren’t mayo

Good recipe – great nutrition for a blue cheese dressing! A little too lemony with the current proportion. I added a little powdered sugar to offset the bite. I would suggest starting with 1/2 the lemon juice suggested and adjust to taste.
Thanks for the feedback, Tania! Glad you enjoyed it!
Love this recipe!! Just made a third batch in like two weeks. The only adjustment I made was less lemon and added a little skim milk to thin. My husband is addicted!!

Fantastic and so easy to make. I can’t stand mayonnaise, even the vegan kind so this recipe with Greek yoghurt is perfect.
