Second half marathon in the books! This recap is a little late, but just wanted to write a little something about it since I enjoyed it so much!

Long story short, I was supposed to run with a few friends, but most of them didn’t end up signing up. Luckily the two girls that I ran my first half with were running it, so I wasn’t completely alone. Since these races are pretty expensive, I wanted to give it my best. My two friends were just running for fun.

The race setup was great. We got there early (even though my friend had to navigate our uber driver) , waited in line to use the port-o-potty, and then headed to the start. Since my friends were just casually running, they pointed out the 1:45 pacer and said I should go up with that group. I am so glad they mentioned that, since it really helped me set the pace in the beginning. I only ran with that group for about a mile. I felt great so I just ran at a pace that felt good.

The first several miles were great. At one point I looked at my watch and I ran a 7:19 mile. I knew I had to pace myself so I tried to slow down some. My friend told me the course was completely flat, but they changed it this year. There were a few hills, but nothing really bad. I just imagined myself running at Crush, which the hills in those classes can get rough. I knew I was prepared for them, so I just pushed through.

By mile 9 I was starting to get a little tired, but was knew I was almost done. Mile 11 I was really ready for the race to be over. I was definitely slowing down and my legs felt heavy. At one point I think I was running at 9+ minute mile, which isn’t bad at all, but I had my goal in mind though and knew I was almost done.

The last mile was rough, but once I saw the finish line, I started to sprint. Or at least as fast as I could go at that point. I finished in 1:40:07, which I was really happy with. It would have been amazing to be in the 1:30s, but now that means I have to run another one. It is one of my New Years Resolutions this year!

Afterwards we celebrated with food, duh!! We all shared some chips and queso and I got a veggie burger with sweet potato fries. Workout to eat bomb food, right?! Delicious eats after a great race is my kind of day.
