This nutrient packed thick & creamy Rejuvenating Green Detox Smoothie will help get your body get back on track and feeling it’s best.
A new year usually means new goals and resolutions, with most of them being health or fitness related. It is great to see how everyone is so dedicated to eating healthy and being active. While I don’t think we need the new year to make healthy changes, it is good to start somewhere. I think being active and healthy is a lifestyle and something that is worked on continuously throughout the year. The new year is a great place to start though!
While I like to keep it healthy all year, the holidays are definitely a time of indulging. I find myself eating things I normally wouldn’t and drinking alcohol a lot more frequently. After a week of my family being here, I am so ready to get back to my daily routines and eating habits.
That is where this smoothie comes in. There is something about green smoothies that makes me feel refreshed and rejuvenated. They are a great way to get in some greens early in the morning and get your body/digestion going. Sometimes smoothies are loaded with fruit though, which essentially translates to sugar. This spikes your blood sugar, causing it to fall fast, and making you feel tired and sluggish. I tried to pack this one with not a lot of fruit, healthy fats, and lots of nutrients.
Ginger helps stimulates digestion and boosts circulation. By boosting circulation, ginger helps a systemic cleansing through the skin, bowels, and kidneys. Lemon also aids digestion by stimulating the flow of saliva, thus easing the work of the liver. It also works as a diuretic and laxative. Both of these ingredients are great in the morning to get your digestion system revving for the day. It has avocado in it, which helps give a creamy texture and adds healthy fats that keep you full for longer. Chia seeds are packed with omega 3s, antioxidants, and fiber. The apple also adds fiber, which helps keep you full.
Overall, this smoothie packs a nutritional punch in the morning or any time of day you need a pick me up. Give it a try to get back on track to your healthy lifestyle!
