A full Smoothie Box Review! Everything you need to know from what it is, how it works, the cost, is it worth it, how I like it, and a promo code to try them out!
This post is not sponsored by Smoothie Box. We have been using the service for 3+ years now and this is my honest review of it. Check out the video for a full review too!
We’ve been enjoying Smoothie Box for 3+ years now and get a lot of questions about it. So I figured it would be easiest to write a whole review post on it answering all your questions!
For those of you wondering what Smoothie Box is, it’s a healthy smoothie delivery service that delivers ready-to-blend smoothies right to your door! I love a good smoothie and make them regularly in our house. Smoothie Box makes it convenient to have healthy options when we are crunched for time or run out of ingredients to make our own.
What I love about smoothies is that they are easy to make, you can pack in the nutrients, and with so many different things you can add, the flavors are endless! While they are a great way to get in lots of veggies, fruit, healthy fats, and vitamins and minerals, it’s easy to go overboard and make them not-so-healthy, especially when ordering when out at juice shops.
That is why I love Smoothie Box so much! They take the guesswork out of it and their smoothies have a great balance of protein, fat, and carbs. Let’s get into what it is and how it works.

What is Smoothie Box
Smoothie Box is a smoothie subscription box that is delivered right to your door. The box comes with 20 smoothie packs filled with frozen organic fruits and vegetables, seeds, and no added sugar and artificial ingredients. There is also a choice to add grass-fed collagen to your order. The smoothies are ready to blend and all you need to add is your liquid of choice.
All the smoothies are gluten-free, dairy-free, soy-free, and egg-free. They are also free from added sugar, sweeteners, or fillers. There are 4 flavors to choose from:
- Clementine – a combination of orange and ginger, a little sweet and tangy, and tastes like a pumped-up creamsicle – Michael’s favorite!
- Cacao – fruits and veggies that taste like a chocolate milkshake! Seriously, it’s my favorite!
- Green – green apple, greens, pineapple, and avocado that’s super refreshing. A little tangy than the others and not as sweet as the other flavors.
- Berry – a classic berry smoothie!
To make them, all you need to do is add the ingredients of the smoothie pouch to your blender, the collagen peptides (if using), and 8-10 ounces of your liquid of choice. They are delicious as is, but you can add in any other flavor additions you like.
How Smoothie Box Works
- Choose the plan you want:
Variety pack – you will get 5 of each flavor (clementine, cacao, green, and berry)
Customize – pick the quantities of each flavor you want (great if you like one flavor more than the others) - Choose if you want to add collagen and if you want it delivered every 4 or 6 weeks.
- Enter your shipping and billing information.
- Be on the lookout for your delivery. You will get a notification when your box ships, tracking information, and when it is delivered.
- Blend away! Start blending with your liquid of choice and store the rest in your freezer for future use.
It’s really that simple. Once you place your order, they will ship every 4 or 6 weeks depending on your pick. If you choose a custom box, then you will get an email notification the next month so you can pick your flavors before your next shipment goes out. Deliveries arrive Tuesday-Saturday.
The smoothies are shipped with a certain amount of dry ice depending on where you live. The contents will arrive frozen, but you will need to put them in the freezer the same day you receive them.
Nutrition Facts
One thing I love most about their smoothies is their nutritional breakdown. A lot of times smoothies are full of sugar, especially if you are not making them at home. I used to work for a smoothie place and some of the drinks could reach up to 100 grams of sugar for a large size. What makes it even crazier is that people have no idea and think they are drinking something healthy.
Smoothie Box has a great macro breakdown of carbs, healthy fats, and protein with collagen. They range from 160-360 calories, 20-36 grams of carbs, 7-12 grams of fat, 4-8 grams of protein, 6-8 grams of fiber, and 10-22 grams of sugar. With the collagen, you add an additional 72 calories and 18 grams of protein. I know I am getting a good balance of nutrients when making them.
If you are not using their collagen, add whatever protein you like!
Is Smoothie Box a full meal
It totally depends on how much you eat and your eating habits, but I don’t think a Smoothie Box drink would be a complete meal. As you saw from the nutritional breakdown, they are anywhere from 290-310 calories per smoothie including collagen. This doesn’t include what you use to blend, but if you use almond milk, it won’t add that many more calories.
I personally don’t find that to be enough to keep me full until my next meal. If I want to make it a full meal, I will add more veggies or carbs and healthy fats. Things like frozen spinach, cauliflower rice, zucchini, sweet potato, oats, avocado, nut butter, seed cycling seeds, granola, yogurt, and more. Adding those ingredients helps fill me up and keeps me fuller for longer.
As is, they make a great healthy snack!
How much is Smoothie Box
Depending on what you order, Smoothie Box has two pricing options:
- $119 per order for 20 smoothies with collagen ($5.95 per smoothie or less with promo)
- $99 per order for 20 smoothies without collagen ($4.95 per or less with promo)
Use our discount link to get $80 off your order ($40 off your first 2 orders) on a smoothie subscription box to make them even cheaper.
This breaks it down to $4.70 or $3.70 per smoothie with the promo code. I find those prices to be cheaper than buying a smoothie at your local smoothie shop (anywhere from $7-10) in my experience.
How to cancel
If you do not want to continue with the smoothie subscription, the Smoothie Box cancellation process is easy. Just cancel before your next order is placed and you will no longer receive a shipment. There are no contracts or a certain amount of time you need to have the service.
Make sure you cancel before your next box goes out as once the order is processed, it can’t be canceled.
Smoothie Box vs Daily Harvest
There are quite a few other smoothie subscription boxes out there, Daily Harvest is one of the more popular ones. While I have only tried a couple of their smoothies, here are some of the pros and cons of the two:
- Flavors – Daily Harvest has Smoothie Box beat by a long shot. Daily Harvest has 21 flavor options while Smoothie Box only has 4. I find you can change the flavor of Smoothie Box by adding your own add-ins, but if you don’t want to be bothered with that, Daily Harvest would be better.
- Nutritional breakdown – Smoothie Box for the win. I mentioned it above, but I love how balanced their smoothies are. There is a good amount of healthy fats, they aren’t too high in carbs or sugar (and it is natural sugar), and with the collagen, they have a good amount of protein. Daily Harvest smoothies don’t have that much protein and the macros don’t tend to be as balanced (either higher in carbs or fat and no protein).
- Sweetness – from the flavors I’ve tried from Daily Harvest, I find them to be a lot sweeter. I don’t like overly sweet smoothies and prefer Smoothie Box instead.
- Price – Smoothie Box smoothies come out to $5.95 per smoothie (or less if you don’t add the collagen and use the promo link) and Daily Harvest smoothies are anywhere from $7-8. Per drink, Smoothie Box wins.
Smoothie Box Review
So what do I think of Smoothie Box? Overall, I think it is a great service if you love smoothies. It’s convenient and takes the guesswork out of them. They are super easy to make because all you have to do is add the ingredients and your liquid to the blender. It has also saved me when I’m in a pinch and don’t have time to create my own smoothie.
While the price is higher than making your own from scratch, it beats the price of getting a smoothie at a local juice shop or gym.
Flavors! I love all the flavors as well. I think the chocolate one is my favorite – I mean it takes like a milkshake haha! The clementine tastes like one of my favorite treats growing up, a creamsicle, and is Michael’s favorite. The berry and green are also delicious! You really can’t go wrong with all of them. Like I said I usually add things like nut butter, cacao powder, and whatnot to change up the flavors some.
I would suggest a variety box on your first order and trying all the flavors. You can then see which ones you like and do a custom box on your next order.
Nutritional breakdown. I mentioned it before, but I love how balanced these smoothies are. Protein, carbs, and healthy fats all in one, and a great breakdown of each if you are counting your macros or mindful of what you eat.
Ease of use. I mean, it doesn’t get much easier than that does it?
Is Smoothie Box Worth It?
If you are crunched for time, want to eat healthier/get in more veggies, and enjoy drinking smoothies, I think Smoothie Box can be a great addition to your life. They make it easy for you to have healthy options at home and when you are surrounded by good-for-you foods, it’s easier to make better choices.
You can’t really beat the price for organic fruits and veggies in a smoothie that is delivered right to your house too. It is cheaper than what you would pay at a local store and it is so convenient – you don’t even have to leave your home!
If you find making smoothies at home a breeze, then the service is probably not right for you. You can make your own smoothie for less, it just takes a little longer. You are really paying for the convenience factor in the service.
I personally like having them on hand for quick options for myself or for my husband, but we don’t order them all the time. Like most people, we go through phases of life when we are busier than not, so when we are, it’s nice to have them on hand!
Don’t forget to use this link and you’ll get $80 off ($40 off your first 2 orders) if you want to try them out!

Hello. I’ve been using SmoothieBox for over a year now. Most reviews say that it is 20 smoothies. I do get 20 bags of smoothie ingredients but EACH bag has TWO servings. That is 40 smoothies. I use a Ninja blender (cup and blade) like Nutribullet style.
Kelly says
You are right! They are 2 servings per bag but I usually use it all at once. Thanks for the reminder Liz!
Rose says
I just tried smoothiebox and can’t seem to get mine to blend all that well! They’re really grainy and chunky. Have you had that problem!?
Kelly says
Hey Rose, I haven’t had that problem. What kind of blender are you using? I use a Vitamix at home and it works really well. I have been traveling some though and have used my parents and needed to add more liquid than suggested to get it to be really smooth since the blades aren’t as strong. Hope that helps!
