Ingredients

Greek Turkey Burgers

  • 1 pound ground turkey (I used 93/7)
  • 1/2 cup diced red onion (60 grams)
  • 1/2 cup crumbled feta (2 ounces)
  • 3 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1/2 cup parsley, chopped
  • 2 tablespoons dill, chopped
  • 1 teaspoon dried oregano
  • salt and pepper, to taste

For serving

  • tzatziki sauce
  • burger buns or lettuce wraps
  • for topping - lettuce, sliced tomato, red onion, sliced cucumber...

Instructions

  • Heat the grill to medium-high heat.
  • While the grill heats up, make burgers. In a large bowl, mix the ground turkey, onion, feta, garlic, parsley, dill, dried oregano, and salt and pepper until well combined. Try not to overmix. If desired, let the meat mixture marinate for an hour or more. It gives the burgers even more flavor, but it isn’t necessary.
  • Form the meat into 4 equal-sized patties. Use your hands to form a burger shape, with about one inch of thickness, and a small thumb-sized indent in the middle. This will help them cook evenly and not puff up. If going to grill, place raw patties on a parchment paper-lined baking sheet or plate and freeze for 10 minutes so they firm up. If pan-frying, you do not need to freeze.
  • Grill burgers. Place turkey patties on the grill grates over direct heat and grill for 5-6 minutes per side, flipping once. While the burgers grill, prepare your toppings.
  • Enjoy! Top each burger with tzatziki sauce and serve in lettuce wraps or buns with additional toppings of choice.
