Equipment

  • nonstick skillet

Ingredients

  • 1 pound ground chicken (I suggest using ground chicken and not chicken breast, as chicken breast is too lean)
  • 1 tablespoon maple syrup
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1 teaspoon ground sage
  • 1/2 teaspoon onion powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon cumin
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1/4 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil

Instructions

  • Make sausages. Add ground chicken, spices, salt, and pepper to a medium-large bowl. Using your hands, mix to combine.
  • Form sausage patties. Form mixture into 9 equal-sized patties (about 1.75 ounces each), making sure to flatten them out and put a little thumb-sized indent in the middle so they don’t puff up when you cook them. If needed, you can press them down with a spatula when cooking to help flatten them out. The mixture will be sticky; if needed, wet your hands with a little water when forming patties.
  • Cook. Heat up a large nonstick skillet or cast iron over medium heat, add oil, and let it get hot. Add sausage patties in a single layer and cook for 3-5 minutes, flip, and cook for another 2-4 minutes until browned and cooked through. You may have to cook in two batches depending on how big your pan is.
  • Enjoy! Serve with your favorite breakfast items and enjoy!
